Catalog Policy

Krat13 · Russia’s war against Ukraine

Krat13 applies a Catalog Policy to certain releases, artists, record labels, companies, and entities regarding Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine.

Users may still catalog records they own. Policy status does not remove a record from your personal collection or alter factual collection and valuation data.

This is a catalog-content policy. It does not restrict access to Krat13 based on a user’s nationality, ethnicity, language, birthplace, or citizenship.

What the policy changes in the app

A release covered by the policy stays in your collection with its value and data intact. It is not chosen by Krat13’s automatic suggestions — Today’s Spin, daily reminders, widget picks, Siri’s random record, and want-list alerts — and its detail screen does not load Other Pressings, Fans Also Like, or Upcoming Shows. Fans Also Like also omits artists whose catalogue location is the Russian Federation or Belarus. Everything you open yourself remains available, and nothing is hidden from search, export, sharing, or backup.

The registry is delivered only to verified Krat13 installations. It is not published as a public list. How Krat13 handles information about the artists and companies it names is described in the Privacy Notice, which also explains how a person named in the registry can ask for a correction or exercise their data-protection rights.

How classifications are made

  • Official sanctions and government actions (e.g. Ukrainian, EU, US or UK measures).
  • Krat13’s independent editorial policy for documented cases.
  • Releases issued or manufactured by record labels and companies based in the Russian Federation.
  • Release-level policy that applies only to one specific edition.

Some classifications reflect only verified commercial music activity in the Russian Federation after 24 February 2022. That is an independent Krat13 catalog decision and does not, by itself, mean that an artist supports the war or is subject to government sanctions.

An affected artist, label, company, or release is not necessarily subject to government sanctions. Some classifications reflect Krat13’s independent Catalog Policy.

Krat13 applies a Catalog Policy to certain releases issued or manufactured by labels and companies based in the Russian Federation. This does not imply that every affected label, company, artist, or release is subject to government sanctions.

This policy reflects Krat13’s position regarding Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine.

Evidence and review

Every active classification is recorded with the source it rests on, the authority or publication behind that source, and the date the evidence was last checked. Primary sources — an official register or the authority's own record — are used wherever they are available.

A classification only takes effect in the app when it is held at high or medium confidence. Records that are unverified, disputed, or supported only by weak or conflicting evidence are kept as review candidates and have no effect on what you see. Where a factual dispute is unresolved, the classification is not treated as settled.

Classifications are reviewed and updated over time. Each carries a last-verified date, an official designation that has ended is deactivated rather than left in place, and the dataset is versioned so a correction reaches the app without waiting for an app update.

Think this classification is incorrect?

If you believe a release, artist, label, or company has been incorrectly covered by this policy, contact Krat13 Support. We review classification errors and outdated information.

Please include the artist or release name and any information that may help us review the classification.

Each substantive request is reviewed on the evidence. The outcome may be that the classification is confirmed, modified, removed, or marked under review. A classification is not removed simply because it has been challenged, and a factual error is corrected promptly once identified.
