Getting started
How do I add my first record?
Tap the + button in the top-right corner of the Collection tab. You can fill in the details manually, scan a barcode, or paste a Discogs / Apple Music URL to auto-fill everything.
Can I import my existing Discogs collection?
Yes. In Discogs, go to My Collection → Export to download a CSV. Then in Krat13 go to Settings → Import from CSV and select the file. The import handles Discogs's format automatically (condition grades, "Artist, The" name inversion, format strings, etc.).
Does Krat13 require an account?
No Krat13 account is required. Your library lives on your device and can sync through your existing iCloud account. You may separately connect a Discogs account for import/sync, and Apple manages any Pro subscription.
iCloud sync
Why isn't my collection syncing between my devices?
- Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple ID on both devices.
- Go to Settings.app → [Your Name] → iCloud and ensure iCloud Drive is enabled.
- Check that Krat13 is listed and enabled under iCloud → Apps Using iCloud.
- Give it a minute — CloudKit sync is not instant. The iCloud Sync section in Krat13 → Settings shows the current status.
- A poor network connection on either device will delay sync.
Will I lose data if I delete and reinstall the app?
If iCloud sync was working, your collection will be restored from iCloud after reinstall within a few minutes. If you only had local data (iCloud disabled), reinstalling permanently deletes it — we recommend exporting a backup first via Settings → Export Backup (JSON).
Cover art
My cover art won't load. What can I do?
Try Settings → Repair Missing Covers. The app will search MusicBrainz and iTunes for each record with a blank or broken URL and propose replacements. You review each one before anything is saved.
You can also edit the record and paste a direct image URL, or take a photo of the sleeve using the camera button in the edit form.
Can I use my own photos as cover art?
Yes. When editing a record, tap the camera icon in the Cover Image section. An ordinary cover photo is saved locally (and in your private iCloud if sync is enabled). Only photos you deliberately submit to Premium Scan are sent through the Krat13 backend to Google Cloud Vision.
Backup & restore
How do I back up my collection?
Go to Settings → Export Backup (JSON). This saves a complete backup of your collection and want list to Files or iCloud Drive. You can also export a CSV or PDF inventory.
How do I restore a backup?
Go to Settings → Import Backup (JSON) and select your .json backup file. You will be asked to confirm before anything is replaced.
Note: restoring a backup replaces your current collection. Export a fresh backup first if you want to keep both.
Widgets
How do I add a widget to my home screen?
Long-press your home screen → tap + in the top-left → search for "Krat13". Choose from Today's Spin (small), Recently Added (medium), or Vinyl Shelf (large). Lock screen widgets are available in the same list.
The widget shows old data or won't update.
Widgets refresh automatically when you open the app and whenever your collection changes. If it is stuck, open Krat13 and add or edit any record — this triggers a widget refresh. iOS also limits widget update frequency; "Today's Spin" refreshes at midnight each night by design.
NFC sleeve stickers
How do I use NFC stickers with Krat13?
Open a record's detail page and scroll to the NFC Sleeve Sticker section. Tap Write Tag, then hold an NFC sticker near the top of your iPhone. Once written, tapping that sticker with any iPhone opens the record directly in Krat13.
Any NDEF-compatible NFC sticker works. Common options: NTAG213/215/216 stickers (widely available for under $0.10 each).
NFC is not available on my device.
NFC is supported on iPhone 7 and later. It is not available on iPad or Mac. The NFC section shows a "not supported" notice on unsupported devices.
Privacy
Does Krat13 sell my data?
No. We do not sell personal data or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Limited data is sent to providers only for the features and operations described in our Privacy Notice.
How do I delete records, app data, or historical provider data?
Settings → Delete All Records removes only your owned collection and its linked local covers, reminders, widget data, Live Activities, and caches. It keeps the want list, settings, subscription, analytics/AI choices, and Discogs connection. Settings → Delete All App Data performs the full local/iCloud reset, including the collection, want list, local covers, caches, Discogs connection, and most settings. Afterward, the app offers a separate pre-filled request for identifiable historical analytics, diagnostics, backend, or support data. You can also use Request My Data or Erasure at any time without deleting or uninstalling the app. These controls do not cancel an Apple subscription, erase Apple purchase history, delete copies already exported/shared, remove physical NFC content, or guarantee immediate deletion from an offline device. See the Privacy Notice for exact scope, legal exceptions, and independent-provider controls.
